C R E S L O W is a parish i j m iles north-east from W hit­
church, about 5 m iles south-east from Winslow station
on the O xford and Bletchley section of the London and
North W estern railw ay, n m iles south-east from B uck­
ingham, and 6 from A ylesbury, in the Mid division of the
county, hundred of Cottesloe, W inslow p etty sessional
division, union and county cou rt d istrict of A ylesbury.
Creslow contains but one dwelling house, which is the
ancient M anor house of the tim e of E dw ard III. form erly
in possession of the K nights Tem plars of the order of St.
John of J eru salem : i t retains an octagonal tower and
a groined undercroft. The church, desecrated during
the C ivil W ar, is now used as a coach hou se: the

north doorway is a fine exam ple of N orm an work. A
stone discovered here in 1903 bears the date 1341. Th e
rectory was suppressed by Queen E lizabeth. Th e in­
h abitants attend the church at W h itch urch .
Lord
