The ch u rch yard , c o n s id e ra b ly e n la rg e d d u rin g 1894,
formerly contained a c ro ss , b u t t h is w as ta k e n dow n in
1830 in o rd er to m en d th e c h u r c h w a ll. T h e r e g is te r
dates from th e y e a r 1654. T h e liv in g is a v ic a r a g e ,
net yearly v a lu e £ 1 8 3 , in th e g i f t o f th e B ish o p of
Oxford, and h e ld sin ce 1905 b y th e R e v . Jo h n H a m ilto n
Mortimer M .A . of M a g d a le n C o lle g e , O x fo rd . H e re is
a Congregation al M issio n H a ll, e re c te d in 1884, se a tin g
100 persons. One h u n d re d a c re s of la n d in t h is p a rish
are let for th e b en e fit o f t h e p r o p rie to rs of M arsto n
and of the poor ; th e p o rtio n a s s ig n e d to th e poor is
fixed by a co m m ittee a c c o rd in g to a s c a le a g re e d u p o n ;
the ren t-ch arg e is te r m e d “ F o r e s t m o n e y .”
The
