V ice -C h a n ce llo r’ s and D o c to rs ’ se a ts w ere reconstructed
in 1827-8 b y t h e la t e M r. T h o m a s Plow m an, architect
and all th e m o n u m e n ts w e re rem o v ed from the pillars
of t h e n a v e, and in 1900 th e sta lls and panelling in the
c h o ir w e re ren o v a ted an d t h e flo o rin g renewed: St.
M a ry ’s b ein g th e U n iv e r s ity c h u rc h , serm ons are preached
he re e v e r y S u n d a y m o rn in g d u rin g te rm , b y preachers
