BUCKINGHAMSHIRE.
The reservoir of the Am ersham , Beaconsfield and D istrict
Waterworks Co. Lim ited is situated h e re ; it supplies
Amersham and d istrict, and has a capacity of considerÂ
ably more than 100,000 gallons. Th e ch urch of A ll Saints,
a chapel of ease to S t. M aryâs, A m ersh am , is a b uilding of
flint and b rick in the G othic style, consisting of chancel,
nave, south p orch and a sm all tower containing one
bell and clock w ith chim es presented by M iss G a lp in :
there is an oak rered o s: an organ was presented in 1906
in m em ory of M rs. Tom T ay lo r by her fa m ily : th ere
are 200 sittin gs. The R ev. C ecil G eorge C um ner W alker
M.A. of K eble College, O xford, has been curate in
charge since 1908. E dm und W aller, th e poet, born in
this ham let, M arch 3, 1605, was M .P. for Am ersham in
two parliam ents of Charles I. ; and the celebrated
Algernon Sidney represented it in 1679. A m ong the

curiosities here is the celebrated W aller's Oak. The
sou is p rin cip ally chalk and flint. The area is 1,810
a c re s; rateable value, £2,966; the population in i g n
was 570.
