n e a r th e r o a d to N o rth m o o r, is an an cien t and hand­
so m e m o a te d m a n sio n , w h ic h , d u r in g t h e C iv il war, was
g a rriso n e d fo r th e K i n g , b u t su rre n d e re d in 1645 to one
of F a ir fa x ’ s g e n e r a l s : it is th e p ro p e r ty o f C h rist Church,
