pleasantly situated in fine park-like grounds, is the p rop erty o f the R ev .
H enry Charles W ild e r M .A . rector of Sulliam, and th e residence o f Mrs.
Hew. P u rle y P ark , a large building of P ortland stone in the Italian
style, situated on th e banks o f the river Tham es, w ith in an enclosed park,
is the residence o f G. F . D . F u llerton esq. H ere are th e kennels o f the
¡south -Berks F ox h ou n d s, H en ry W . Boileau esq. m a s te r; N ew b u ry and
H en ley are con ven ien t tow ns for hunting visitors. T he prin cip al la n d ­
ow n ers are the R e v . H . C. W ild er and Sir Charles D a y R ose, o f H a rd ­
w ick house, R eadin g. T he soil is loam and gravel ; su b soil, gravel.
I he ch ie f crops are oats, barley and beans. The area is 1,874 acres o f
land and 3 of \vater ; rateable value, £ 9 ,7 7 3 ; th e p op ulation in 1911
was 238 in the civil parish , and 209 in the ecclesiastical parish.
