p u b lic recreation grou n d . M r. P alm er also g a v e a t an earlier date a
large recreation g rou n d in th e K in g ’ s m ead ow s, w h ic h is ex ten siv ely
used fo r crio k e t, fo o tb a ll and o th e r oufc-door gam es.

e x te n d in g fo r ab ou t th ree-qu arters o f a m ile w estw a rd from C aversham
B r id g e and a b u ttin g u p on th e r iv e r T ham es. T h is land, w h ic h has a
u n iform depth o f 150 fe e t, has been laid o u t as a p u b lic p rom enade,
an d is a valu a ble a d d itio n t o the am enities o f th e tow n .
