The largest coir ropes ever maue in this
conn try or elf« where were despatched from
R. Hood Haggle anil Sonâs Williugton Rope, works last week lo r shipment abroad. These
ropes were 25 inches circumference.
Tho
length was 280 yards and the weight over
five tons. They are intended for exceptionally
heavy work in a strong seaway, and they
presented the appearance of a gigantic sea
serpent.
About tw o years ago Messrs. R.
HoodHaggieand Son made the record Manilla
cable of 22 inches circumference, which
aaccessfully towed the huge pontoon dock out
to Havana, but these ropes exceed that by
three inches circu.m?ereuce, which will give
some idea of their gigantic proportions.
