H ill,â is a tith in g and gn ecclesiastical
parish, form ed M ay 9th, 1854, o u t of the
parish es of Su lh am pstead Abbots and Sulham pstead B annister, and in clu d es the
lib e rty of H artle y D u m m er, in Shinfield
c iv il parish , in the N ew b u ry division of
the co u n ty,, hundred and cou n ty court
d is tric t and p e tty sessional division of
R eadin g, union of B radfield, ru ra l d eanery
of R eadin g, archdeaconry of B erks and
diocese of O xford. B y an O rd er in Coun Â
c il, a portion of th is p a rish w as in 1913
tran sferred to th e new ecclesiastical
parish of Spencerâs W ood. T he church of
the H oly T rin ity , erected in 1850, is a
sm all stru ctu re of flint, consisting of
chancel, nave, south porch and a belfry
con tain in g one b e ll: th e east window is
stained, and th ere are also tw o memorial
w indow s: th ere are 250 sittin gs.
The
registe r dates from th e y e a r 1856. The
liv in g is a vicarage, n et yearly value
¿ 2 6 5 , w ith residence and 3 acres of glebe,
in the g if t of th e Bishop of Oxford, and
held sin ce 1916 b y the R ev. Thom as .
