Henley-on-Thames.
E N L B Y is a parish, market town and borough corporate, situate
in the hundred of Binfield, and on the S.E. border of the County
of Oxon, about 23 miles from Oxford ; 8 miles from Read ing;
7 miles from Great M arlow ; 5 miles from the Tw yford Station
o f the Great Western R a ilw a y ; 16 W. by N. from Windsor ; 9 W.
from Maidenhead ; and 35 miles W. from London by the road through
Maidenhead. The town and parish contains, according to the ParliaÂ
mentary returns, 1920 acres.
Population.â The population of the borough o f Henley-on-Thames,
comprising the parishes of Henley and Greys, according to the census
of 1911, was 6,456.
