1/4th BATT. ROYAL BERKS REGIMENT (T.F.)
Three kinds of duty are represented in the accom
panying pictures, taken while the l/4 th Batt. Royal
Berks Regiment was at Chelmsford. B efore leaving
the Essex tow n the division of w hich the Berkshires
form ed part attended a farew ell service in Chelmsford
Cathedral, where the B ishop in the course of an im
pressive sermon com plim ented the men on their sense
o f duty. In the same week Colonel 0 . P . Serocold
read to the battalion a letter from the Berks County
Association w ishing it God speed and a safe return,
and he on his part expressed his entire confidence in
the battalion m aintaining the reputation of the
regim ent and even establishing itself as one of the
crack Territorial battalions in the land.
