WOUNDED GUARDS AT BASILDON PARK.
A MANSION AS HOSPITAL.
Captain J. A. Morrison, of Basildon Park, was one of the many wealthy residents of Berkshire who converted their mansions into havens of rest and healing for sick and wounded soldiers. In this case the mansion is a convalescent home for the Brigade of Guards, and the whole cost of maintaining the establishment is borne by Captain Morrison, who is himself serving at the front. In the first 13 months that the home was open upwards of 500 cases were dealt with and the patients express the liveliest satisfaction with the care and consideration shown. The commandant and medical officer is Dr. P. C. E. Tribe, the two nursing sisters are Miss Braid and Miss Ruddock, and the assistant nurse is Miss O'Beirne.
