BERKSHIRE YEOMANRY IN EGYPT.
In the Land of the Pyramids the Berkshire Yeomanry
have fought valiantly against the Turk and a still fiercer
sun, adding one of the most interesting pages to the long
history of this wonderful country.
These troopers are Bracknell lads serving in the land of the Pyramids, which will loom largely in the history of the regiment. Reading from left to right, the troopers are E. Brown , C. Longhurst , E . Ewins , H . Hearn and R. Cole.
Corpl. L. THOMAS , Thicket Farm, Wantage . Awarded the D . C . M . At Gallipoli he followed the late Major Gooch into the enemy's trench, and while the Major held one Turk the corporal bayoneted two more , then guided the wounded officer to safety..
Lieut.-Colonel J. T . WIGAN , awarded the D.S.O. He was wounded in Gallipoli , August, 1915,and commanded a mounted composite regiment and afterward the Berkshire Yeomanry on the western frontier of Egypt.
