WOMEN IN WAR WORK.

[photo, group, interior] At Crowmarsh Ironworks, Wallingford, women work as moulders, and the picture shows some of the "weak" sex standing at the machine.

[photo, group, exterior] At Pangbourne four sisters, the Misses Harper, have taken the place of their three soldier brothers, one of whom was lost in the Berkshire Yeomanry charge in Gallipoli.

THE "FARE" SEX.

[photo, group, exterior] Reading Corporation now employs young women as tramcar conductors and pays them at the same rate as the men. The tram conductress, who wears a smart uniform -€” and a businesslike air -€” has been given a very friendly reception and discharges her duties with great satisfaction. Since this picture was taken in December, 1915, t he number of conductresses has been increased to about fifty. [Photo P. O. Collier.]
