Y.M.C.A. WORK AT CHURN CAMP.
The following facts and figures relative to the work of Reading Y.M.C.A. in the summer and autumn of 1915 at Churn will speak for themselves: -
Over 50 men pledged their allegiance to the King of Kings.
Over 300 men read their Bibles each day in camp.
One thousand five hundred men were definitely influenced for good this camp.
Amount deposited in the Savings Bank during two months, £175 13s. 8d.
Number of depositors, 240.
Number of letters posted in the pillar-box, 35,475.
Average number of letters written each day in a camp consisting of 1,600 men, 645.
Over 40,000 sheets of writing paper, besides envelopes and postcards, were used by the men free of charge, with facilities for writing, reading and recreation.
Fifteen special concert parties were sent out to Churn from Reading and the locality, and over 25 special services for men were held, entailing the engagement of a number of prominent speakers and evangelists.
