Reading Corporation Tramways. The re-laying of the cross-over at the junction of West Street, Broad Street, St. Mary's Butts and Oxford Road, in 1925. The view is eastwards along Broad Street, and labourers are at work. The rails are in place, and await the filling of cobble-stones. A policeman stands in the foreground, making a "stop" gesture, and on the left is a newspaper vendor, carrying a placard, "Startling Shanghai plot story." 1920-1929. There are postcard versions at 1244682 and 1244746.
