King Street, Reading, looking eastwards along Kings Road, c. 1912. To the left, Nos. 3, 4 and 5 (Barclay's Bank). To the right, No. 24 (Morton's shoe shop); Nos. 15-16 (Henry Ferdinand Hope, antique dealer, with the sign sating "art at home"); No. 14 (E. S. Tanner, watchmaker, jeweller and optician). An electric tramcar and a man on a bicycle are on the carriageway, and there are several young ladies in long dark skirts and white blouses and wearing straw hats on the pavements. 1910-1919 : postcard, "Reading, King Street," by Francis Frith and Company.
