King Street, Reading.  Looking westwards.

King Street, Reading, looking westwards from the junction with Duke Street, Kings Road and High Street towards Broad Street, c. 1905. On the left, the "Tony Lumpkin" sign at No. 4 Duke Street (Brigham and Company, tobacconists); No. 2 Duke Street (Boot's, chemists); Nos. 10, 11 and 12 King Street (The George Hotel); 134 Broad Street (The Speedwell Motor Company). A policeman stands by a horse-drawn delivery van of Chaplin and Company, agents for the London and South Western Railway, in front of which electric tramcar No. 3 is proceeding towards Oxford Road. 1900-1909 : copied from a postcard by C. E. May and Son with the caption "King St. Reading" There is another postcard version at 1213940.
