ATHLETES' VOLUNTEER FORCE.
Composed o f men who held a genuine reason for not jo in in g the Army, Reading Section o f the A thletes' Volunteer Force made rapid progress from
the first and in numbers and efficiency soon justified formation.
Drills and shooting take place at Reading Barracks and the Covered Market, and field
maneuvres occur on occasional Sundays and on Bank Holidays (at one o f which the accom panying photograph was taken). Captain A . S. Cooper is commanding officer, the Rev. F. J. C. Gillmor is president, Mr. T. Rowland Kent is hon, treasurer and
