O ne of th e m ost
severe a tta ck s on th e First
Army Corps,
w hich included th e B erkshires, was
m ade on O ctober 31st.
It w as on th is occasion th a t
Sergt. Taylor was fata lly
w ounded. The B erkshires
again distinguish ed them ­
selves.
Pte . J. Pym and
Lce.-Corp l. F . C. G. Hill
received th e D .C .M ., but
th e form er was rep orted
m issing in April and Hill
died of w ounds received in
th e engagem ent.
