ROYAL BERKSHIRE REGIMENT RECRUITING MARCH (continued).

The march had its grand climax in a military
parade at Reading, where the recruiting party was
only one unit in a brilliant procession of Regulars,
Territorials and Volunteers, nurses and cadets. There was
afterwards a great demonstration on the Thames Promenade,
where the Lord Lieutenant took the salute as the
procession filed past civic and military notabilities.
Telling speeches were made by the Mayor of Reading
(Mr. Leonard Sutton), Mr. Bryan O'Donnell, a
delegate of the Parliamentary Recruiting Committee,
Major Tennyson D'Eyncourt, officer commanding the
Royal Berks Regiment Recruiting Party, Alderman
A. H. Bull and Sergt. Major Cross, a wounded soldier,
who said that every young man would rush to join the
Army did he but see the ruins of Belgium. Twelve
recruits came forward.
