REWARDS FOR DISTINGUISHED SERVICE.
[photo, portrait] Pte. CHAS. KURTON, 1st Royal Berks Regt., Chapel Hill, Tilehurst. - Awarded the Military Medal for gallantry in the field. He was wounded in the back and the side. He has been in the Army 15 years.
[photo, portrait] Pte. PHIL ANDREWS, 1st Batt. Coldstream Guards, Sonning. - Awarded the Distinguished Service Medal for keeping an enemy force at bay with bombs.
[photo, portrait] Chief Petty Officer JOHN WILLEY, Cleeve Lock, Goring, who has been awarded the Distinguished Service Medal and already held the Long Service Medal.
[photo, portrait] Acting Staff Sgt.-Major T. MARTIN, Army Service Corps, Amen Corner, Binfield. - Awarded the D.C.M. for services as master baker; he showed resource in starting a bakery. He has served 18 years, first in the Royal Berks Regiment.
[photo, portrait] Capt. C. GENTRY-BIRCH, 8th Batt. Royal Berks Regt., was awarded the Military Cross. Taking up a commission immediately after the outbreak of war, he fought in the battle of Loos on Sept. 25th, 26th, 27th and 28th, and October 13th and 14th, 1915, and was one of those who emerged from the fierce fighting unscathed.
[photo, portrait] Capt. SYDNEY WALKER LUND, M.B., Ch.B., R.A.M.C., late of Caversham. - Awarded the Order of St. Sava, 4th class, by the King of Serbia.
[photo, portrait] Sergt. A. J. ETHERIDGE, Royal Engineers, Crowthorne. - Awarded the Distinguished Conduct Medal for conspicuous bravery in action.
[photo, portrait] Coy.- Sergt.-Major A. GRAHAM, 2/4th Royal Berks Regt., 81, Catherine St., Reading. - Awarded the D.C.M. for bravery and determination in reorganising successive waves in an attack under heavy fire, and in assisting his company commander (who had been wounded).
[photo, portrait] Spr. BENJAMIN M. PRIOR, 89th Field Co. R.E., 100, Liverpool Road, Reading. - Awarded the D.C.M. for gallantry under fire - dragging a wounded sapper to a shell hole and bandaging him and fetching a stretcher bearer.
[photo, portrait] Acting Co.-Sergt.-Major H. FEASEY, 1/4th Hants Regt., 3, Rosewood Place, Blackwater. - Awarded the Distinguished Conduct Medal for gallant conduct and devotion to duty in the field.
