WOUNDED SOLDIERS ENTERTAINED .
In the summer of 1915 parties of sick and wounded soldiers in the R ea d in g
War Hospital went for river trips in the Thames Conservancy launch Alexandra, kindly
placed at the disposal of Alderman C. G. Field, the representative of the Reading
Corporation on the Board of Conservators. Officers and their friends provided
tea for the soldiers, who needless to say derived great enjoyment from their journey past the luxuriant meadows and wooded slopes of the Thames Valley.

THE ALEXANDRA AT CAVERSHAM LOCK.
Over 100 patients of Reading War Hospital were guests of the G . W . R . staff at a tea and concert in the Abbey Hall. One feature that amused the party was a competition in which the first lines of twenty songs were played on the pianoforte and each guest was invited to name the titles. The winner of the first prize was right 17 times out of 20.
