Prisoners of War
0, Listen to the Band! It is composed of British prisoners of war and Russians and is the Prisoners' Camp Band. It has not just been playing "Rule Britannia," though wouldn't some of our lads love to strike up that stirring refrain!
Though fate has decreed that these men should fall into the hands of the enemy, they do not appear by any means downhearted, but seem very fit and well. The cross indicates Pt e. A. G. PRIOR, of the Grenadier Guards. He was previously in the Reading Borough Police Force.
The man standing on the extreme right is Dmr. HAMPSHIRE, 37, Pangbourne Street, Reading, captured at Mons. He is well known locally as a heavy- weight boxer .
A group of prisoners of war, amongst whom is Sergt . S. 0. BELCHER, Royal Berks Regt., of Battersea. The men, composed of various units, all seem cheerful and contented.
