2/4TH BATT. ROYAL BERKSHIRE REGIMENT
Pte. P. M. CHANDLER, 75 Norton Road, Reading. - Wounded .
Pte. H. COXHEAD, 52, Newport Road, Reading. - Wounded.
Pte. W. G. MILES , Reading. - Wounded and shell shock.
Pte . R. BENHAM, Woodbine Cottage, Speen. - Wounded, now convalescent.
Pte. ALEC. PACK (transferred to 1st Batt.), 131, Waverley Road, Reading. - Wounded.
FUNERAL OF "ERBERT" - "Erbert" was a young owl found by the battalion cooks on
Salisbury Plain. He was accidentally killed three days before the battalion left for France and buried with full military honours. The officiating minister was Corpl. Wise and the undertaker was Pioneer Sergt . Midgley. The chief mourners were the cooks and the buglers blew the "cook-house". The coffin was inscribed "No. 000 Pte. 'Erbert' , 2/4th Batt. Royal Berks."
