THE POTATO SHORTAGE
No illustrated record of the war would be complete without a photograph of the queues which assembled at the premises of greengrocers whenever potatoes were to be obtained. The shortage became acute in March and April. the above picture shows the large number besieging a well-known dealer's shop in Southampton Street, Reading.
