Anker Simmons, of Henley, head of the well-known firm of Mesrss. Simmons and Sons, auctioneers and estate agents. Mr. Simmons, who is one of the greatest authorities on agriculture in the country, was appointed as an expert on Lord Devonport' s Food Control Committee in January last, where

his special work was connected with feeding stuffs in connection with agriculture. A few months later he was honoured by the further appointment to a committee which was formed to consider the question of the production and distribution of milk, a subject of which he has a particularly wide range. A further proof of the value to his country of Mr. Simmons' extensive technical knowledge was forthcoming a few weeks later in his appointment to a committee constituted to advise the Ministry of Food on any question which might rise in regard to the marketing and distribution of the 1917 crops of grain and potatoes. On three occasions Mr. Simmons has been Mayor of Henley.
