CHILDREN ASSIST A WAR FUND
Two entertainments were given by children of the Alnut's School, Groing Heath. As a result £11 was handed over to the British Prisoners of War Fund. The picture shows a few of the patriotic performers. Photo by H. Goddard, 142 Southampton Street. Reading.
Tribunal Member Who Answered the Call
Mr C.R. Geater, a member of the local tribunal for Reading and chairman of the Reading Workers' Recruiting Committee, who enlisted before waiting to answer his group call. At a meeting of the Tribunal, the Mayor expressed his good wishes to Mr Geater, who had been a very useful member.
Gnr. GEORGE PORT, R.G.A. who had some very narrow escapes, suffered from severe shock. He was once chief cornet player in the Reading Temperance Prize Band. His wife is a Red Cross nurse and his two sons are Boy Scouts.
The "girls" in this picture are men belonging to the H.A.C. who as pierrots in Egypt are keeping merry and bright. The photo was sent by Tmpr. T. Lougheed, son of Mr F. Lougheed, commandant Reading Corps, Salvation Army.
