SON OF READING SCHOOLMASTER
Returned from Canada to fight for old country
Second Lieut. A. ILLINGWORTH BUTLER R.F.A. Brunswick House, Bath Road, son of the head master of the Bluecoat School, Reading, has been awarded the Military Cross.
He was in Canada on the Grand Trunk Railway. He joined King Edward's Horse at Watford, served in France and Flanders, transferred to the Royal Engineers. In February 1918 he went to the Western Front.. battles of March 21st and April 24th 1918. Reading School under Dr Eppstein.
LONG AND MERITORIOUS SERVICE
Sgt. H. FOTHERLEY, Yourkshire Regt. Southcote Grange Farm, Reading, Royal Humane Society's Medal, the Military Medal, the Mons Star and the Long Service Medal.
