The Festivities in the Towns and Villages.

HAPPY TIME SPENT DESPITE THE RAIN.

Peace Day was celebrated with enthusiasm throughout the County on July 19th. An account of the festivities would occupy many pages, but the attractions provided possessed many features in common, viz., parades, sports, entertainment to ex-Service men, treats for children, fireworks and bonfires.

The following is a summary of what took place in the towns and villages of Berks: -€”
Abingdon. - Parade of 150 soldiers, old cannon fired, sports, concert at the Corn Exchange.
Aldermaston. -€” Sports at the Barn Ground, tea, dancing, fireworks and bonfire.
Arborfield. -€” Procession to Newlands, sports, tea, concert, supper, dancing, fireworks and bonfire.
Ascot. -€” Tea and sports for children on the racecourse.
Basildon. -€” Sports in Basildon Park, tea for children, fireworks and flares.
Beenham. -” Sports, tea to 400 children and adults, bonfire.
Binfield. -€” Sports in Mr. Bailey's field, tea, flares, dancing in the Parish Room.
Bracknell. -€” Service at Holy Trinity, dinner to 210 ex-Service men, children's procession, tea for 2,000 children and adults, concert.
Bradfield. -€” Parade, tea for 600 persons, sports for adults and children, fireworks and bonfire.
Bucklebury. -€” Thanksgiving service at the Parish Church, tea for children, sports in Old Manor grounds.
Crowthorne. -€” United service on Mr. Hill's ground, procession to The Towers, tea for children, sports, dancing.
