WAR SERVICE IN HOSPITALS.

Honoured for "Doing Their Bit"€ at Home.

Amongst those who have done good service on the "home front" none are more deserving of thanks than the workers in connection with the Red Cross and Voluntary Aid Detachments. Accompanying are portraits of Berkshire people who have been brought to the notice of the Secretary of State for War by the Chairman of the Joint War Committee of the British Red Cross Society and Order of St. John of Jerusalem in England, for valuable services rendered in connection with the war.

MAJOR SAINSBURY.

[photo, portrait] Mr. F. G. SAINSBURY, formerly architect in Reading, and Scoutmaster, was promoted a Major in the Royal Engineers. In 1914 Mr. Sainsbury joined the Royal Berkshire Regt. He trained for a time at Chelmsford, obtained his commission in the Wiltshire Regt. and transferred to the Royal Engineers, with whom he has been in France for nearly four years.
