"A" COMPANY 1st VOLUNTEER BATTALION ROYAL BERKSHIRE REGIMENT.

This fine body of men attended drills week by week, in all weathers, in order to make themselves efficient to stand by the old country in case of need. Many of them are professional or business men with little leisure, but to do their bit was their first consideration, and the patriotic spirit of our local Volunteers will forever remain one of the most pleasing features of the part Reading played in the Great War.
