The generosity of the workers at Hankin's Engineering Works resulted in some 70 wounded Tommies spending a delightful afternoon on Saturday, Jan. 5th. Many hearty thanks are due to Mr. and Mrs. Brown, of 651, Oxford Road, and Mrs. Points for making arrangements and conducting the concert, with Mr. Brown in the chair. Songs were given by the Misses Brown, Moppett, George, N. Taylor and A. Taylor, with Miss M. Taylor at the piano; recitations by the Misses Bright and Clarke and Pte. Cox; and banjo solo by Master Willis. Much laughter was caused when six of the girls presented a sketch, "Wanted a Feneral. Mr. "Bill" Moss was to have given a song, and much sympathy was felt when the chairman announced his death, which took place a few days prior to this entertainment. Tea was then partaken of, and pianoforte selections were given by Mr. W. Bailey. The generosity of the workers will live for many a day in the hearts of the "boys in blue."
